We're co-hosting a Walk & Talk at Foregin Moor with Seafield & Strathspey Estates and Scottish Land & Estates! Foregin Moor is an exciting example of land-use transition in practice. Following the end of a sporting tenancy in 2023, Strathspey Estate has been working with Zora Ecosystems to develop an integrated land management plan that balances nature restoration, rural employment, community access, sporting interests and long-term estate viability. On the day, we'll be looking at how the estate is bringing together: š² Native woodland expansion through natural regeneration and targeted planting š± Peatland restoration to reduce erosion, rewet the landscape and support biodiversity š Conservation grazing and habitat management for waders and moorland species š¦ Deer management, predator control and continued low-impact sporting use š Carbon, biodiversity and landscape outcomes within a working Highland estate The aim is not to present a finished model, but to open up a practical discussion about what integrated land management can look like on the ground: the opportunities, the constraints, and the trade-offs involved in delivering nature recovery while retaining local skills and rural income streams. On site, Will Anderson (CEO, SEAFIELD ESTATES LIMITED), Jonathan Willett and the Zora operations team will walk through the strategy, the funding, and what it takes to manage several land uses at once without one undermining another. A huge thank you to Scottish Land & Estates, particularly Fiona Van Aardt and Susana Williams for your continued support and for helping put together what will be a brilliant day in the Cairngorms! 1 July 2026.
