We’re excited to share that Vetscan OptiCell™ will be the first and only point‑of‑care hematology analyzer to offer Cellular Hemoglobin Concentration Mean (CHCM). Previously available only in reference labs, this direct measurement of the average hemoglobin concentration within individual red blood cells delivers greater accuracy than traditional calculated values—especially in complex cases. Building on OptiCell’s AI-powered, cartridge-based platform that already provides complete blood count (CBC) results in-clinic, we’re expanding capabilities in 2026 with two new parameters, bringing the total to 24. Alongside CHCM, Plateletcrit (PCT) adds insight into platelet volume and health, helping clinicians more effectively detect changes in production or destruction. Together, these enhancements strengthen OptiCell’s ability to deliver fast, actionable results at the point of care—supporting veterinary teams in making informed decisions and improving patient outcomes.
