Yesterday was "National Rock Day" and I love it when we can link a national day to Hepburn & Hughes 😊 Obviously it can loosely be interpreted to mean "Rock n Roll" 🎶 or "Rocks from the earth" 🌍 But for us it's all about celebrating the wonders of geology and in particular those stones unique to Great Britain At Hepburn & Hughes we create jewellery using Preseli Bluestone, taken from the Preseli Hills in Pembrokeshire, West Wales, and marble from the Isle of Skye landscape. Here are some fun facts about both: ​ Preseli jewellery 🌄A perfect gift for lovers of Wales and the Welsh landscape. 🌄The hills that proffer this stunning stone rise 536m and are covered in wild moorland, heath and grassland dotted with prehistoric remains. 🌄Preseli is deep green/blue with white markings 🌄Famous as the source of the bluestones used to build the inner ring of Stonehenge.  ​ Isle of Skye marble jewellery 🏔️ is appealing for Scottish people and lovers of the dramatic Skye and Highlands geography. 🏔️The marble is found near the village of Torrin, in the shadows of the Cuillin mountain range. 🏔️Its tones range from yellow, green and grey to the more rare pink, and makes stunning summer jewellery (but it looks fantastic in every season!)
