A candidate dropped off a live video interview halfway through. Internet cut out mid-sentence π . They messaged immediately: "I'm so sorry, this happens sometimes. Can we switch to a call?" We switched to a call. They were brilliant. The client brought it up in the debrief, not as a problem. As a positive. "They handled that completely calmly. That's exactly the kind of person we need." Remote interviewing is imperfect. There are technical issues, background noise, kids in doorways, cats in frames (yes I'm speaking about Ollie), internet that cuts out at the worst possible moment. How someone handles that tells you a lot. Composure under unexpected pressure is a skill. Some companies are good enough to recognise it.
