At 18, I became PA to a CEO… and today, his company is officially listed on the stock market. It’s surreal to watch Foodie Media reach this milestone, and I’m incredibly proud of Pinn Yang Lim, Rui Mei Ang, Yew Wei Kit and the entire Foodie team for building something that’s reshaping Malaysia’s media landscape. Working at Foodie Media was one of the most defining chapters of my life. I stepped into the company without experience but with hunger. And Pinn Yang and Mei gave me a chance. From the moment Pinn Yang replied “okie” to speak at my business seminar, everything changed. That one message eventually led to him offering me the opportunity to learn beside him, something I never imagined at 18 years old, with no degree and zero work experience. But our shared passion for entrepreneurship clicked instantly. During my time there, Pinn Yang was always teaching, always guiding, always pushing me to see further than I thought I could. Under his mentorship, I found myself pitching, negotiating and closing deals I never believed someone my age could handle. Together, we grew his livestream selling journey from a single phone setup to a fully planned 30-day Raya Livestream campaign, achieving RM 3.8 million GMV, 34.6 million product views, and ranking as Top 2 Creator on TikTok Shop Malaysia. Those nine months felt like nine years of real experience. Business development, e-commerce, branding, strategy, leadership, resilience… I learned it all on the job, right next to someone who was building something extraordinary. But beyond everything I gained professionally, what meant the most was how Pinn Yang treated me. He never saw me as “just a kid.” He treated me like a brother, always sharing wins, showing me new developments and inviting me into opportunities most people my age would never get close to. And now, studying at the University of Sydney, I’m reminded of Foodie’s impact every time I meet a Malaysian. When they hear I worked for KL Foodie, the reaction is always the same: “You worked for THE KL Foodie?!” Pinn Yang and Mei, just know this: Malaysians all around the world are proud of you. Inspired by you. And today’s listing is proof of how far vision, grit and belief can take you. Congratulations on your listing. This is just the beginning. There is so much more ahead for Foodie Media. 🚀
