Quantum-secure communication — deployed in operational banking infrastructure. Together with Erste Group and A1 Telekom Austria AG, we have successfully implemented an entanglement-based QKD pilot across operational datacenters in Vienna. This establishes a quantum-secure interconnection within live financial environments — integrated into existing fiber infrastructure and built for Tier-1 requirements. As Maurizio Poletto, COO of Erste Group, noted: “Trust is the strongest currency in banking. As quantum technologies will rewrite the rules of cybersecurity, we are acting now by piloting quantum‑secure communication and preparing for post‑quantum encryption.” The deployment lays the foundation for the broader QUAPITAL initiative and future European quantum networks.
