Shigella, zebrafish, and artificial intelligence – how do those go together? 🐟🤖 Shigella is a widespread human bacterial pathogen that causes gastrointestinal problems, and for which there is no effective vaccine. A research team at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, U. of London successfully developed a zebrafish model to study the cell biology of Shigella infection. The findings can be transferred to humans, enabling the development of therapeutic strategies to combat disease. With ZEISS arivis and ZEISS Celldiscoverer 7, the research team has designed an AI-enhanced automated imaging workflow, which automatically identifies and captures images of zebrafish larvae. With the ZEISS ZEN software, larvae whole body measurements and specific regions of interest can be automatically analyzed. ZEISS Microscopy #ZEISS #AI #Innovation #Microscopy
