The most valuable skill I’ve learned this past year isn’t from a classroom or a textbook, it’s prompt engineering. And it’s completely changed how I see AI, problem-solving, and even communication itself. What began as simple curiosity soon turned into hours of experimenting, testing, and refining prompts. I love pushing the boundaries of what AI could do. Along the way, I realized it was never just about getting an answer, but about asking the right question. That change of mindset led to incredible results, from building an AI-driven competitive intelligence tool that reduced manual effort by 85%, to using generative models for storytelling, design, and research. Prompt engineering is quickly becoming a core skill: Research from McKinsey & Company shows that 7% of AI-adopting organizations are already hiring prompt engineers, with many more planning to follow. The World Economic Forum highlights it as an essential function in generative AI, with LinkedIn showing a 177% surge in AI literacy skills since 2023. What excites me most isn’t just seeing prompt engineering already shaping industries, but knowing we’ve only scratched the surface of what’s possible. I feel lucky to be part of a generation that doesn’t just watch this era of AI unfold, but gets to shape it.
