Research Integrity in the Age of AI π I recently reviewed a manuscript submitted to a Q1 journal in International Relations. From the outset, I suspected extensive reliance on AI-generated content. That suspicion was reinforced when I noticed that one of my own publications cited in the manuscript was referenced incorrectly. I am sharing a screenshot as a reminder that AI-generated references can contain significant errors and should never be accepted without careful verification. In this case, a co-authored (open-access) article that I published with ayesha khalid CH was incorrectly listed as appearing in the Journal of Asian and African Studies. In reality, the article was published in The Journal of Current Chinese Affairs. AI can be a useful research assistant, but it is not a substitute for scholarly diligence.
