Chair of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer at Domo Chemicals

I had the pleasure of attending the Cefic Chemical Convention in Berlin this week. There was a clear sense of realism: our industry is facing extreme challenges. Despite many declarations and action plans, real political support remains too shy. Energy remains costly in Europe, the level playing field with Chinese producers is being questioned, and productivity challenges persist. Rising trade tensions and tariffs with the US add further uncertainty and pressure to our global competitiveness.   This is not the time to entertain illusions. If Europe wants to maintain its industrial base, protect jobs and lead the green transition, stronger and faster action is needed from the European Commission and European Parliament in collaboration with industry. Europe’s future competitiveness will be defined by its ability to act with urgency.   Still, I left Berlin with a renewed sense of purpose. At DOMO Chemicals, we are doing our part by investing in sustainable innovation, driving operational excellence, and supporting our customers in achieving their carbon reduction goals. However, we cannot do it alone. Europe must act boldly to restore competitiveness and create the right conditions for growth.
