Presenting our work on the Nagata-Smirnov Metrization Theorem as part of UCL Mathematics’ Summer Project was a formative experience. We began by working through Engelking’s General Topology, reconstructing the full proof of the metrizability conditions. We focused on building intuition for every theorem and result while preserving the rigour of the argument, a far more interesting challenge than I originally expected.
