After 4 intensive weeks, the course that Aidan M W. & I taught for the Singapore Management University Global Summer Programme (GSP) 2024 concluded yesterday with the group presentations to our 2 clients: Panerai (owned by Richemont Group) & Attribute Data. Keane Lee was present for the 4 groups doing the Panerai project. We were most impressed by the group comprising of Elie, Leonie & others. This group made a visit to Marina Bay Sands & interviewed potential customers on their perspectives of Panerai watches. That approach is really what most companies are now looking out for: in terms of how they should should evolve to cater more to the customers’ needs? Their recommendation of a 3C strategy: 1️⃣ Customization; 2️⃣ Collaborarion; & 3️⃣ Celebrity perfectly encapsulates what refinement needs to be done so that Panerai’s omni-channel strategy can be successful! The group comprising of Christopher, Nicole, Esabella & Viktoriia was also impressive in their recommendation of coming up with a 5th product line, with a proposed partnership with Singapore GP Pte Ltd. The third group comprising of Yajur, Rashini & Eunbyul proposed expanding on customization of watches through technology & establishing sustainable retail partnership. And the last group comprising of Tazkeen Abdul, Alexandre & Raina proposed revamping the physical & e-boutiques with live chat bot to offer multiple languages. The other 4 groups tackling the other project also came up with very novel recommendations on transforming the image of data consultancy profession to attract & retain more Gen-Z talents. The group comprising of Mayavée & others identified a useful trend in that the demand for data consultancy roles outpaces supply & gave fresh insights from interviews of Computer Science grads-to-be. They also surveyed the Tech Talent landscape in ASEAN which would be useful for attracting talents beyond Singapore. Their slide on the key steps to take & resource commitment required brought about productive discussion. Meanwhile, Ryan Lee, Lindsay & others proposed workcation, feedback-mechanism & organizing case competitions & having student-ambassador program. Another group comprising of Julie, Oya & Paulien expanded on the university partnership angle and elaborated on how the company can further strengthen ties with universities. Finally, the group comprising of Ika, Alexandra T. & Lucas proposed more proactive talent outreach & developing a culture of continous learning as strategic aims. Overall, I am very pleased with the deliverables that were presented & I hope the students found the project engagement to be meaningful in their learning journey 🙏 Thank you to Rick Tay & Hwee Eng Bay for the opportunity to offer this course in the GSP 2024!
