I'm surprised nobody is talking about the Humans vs. AI match that happened last week. Last week, AtCoder organized its flagship AtCoder World Tour Finals - one of the hardest competitive programming contests in the world - along with its Heuristic Contest. Last year, Psyho defeated OpenAI in the heuristic competition, earning the nickname “Humanity’s Last Programmer.” This year, however, OpenAI completely dominated both the Algorithm and Heuristic divisions, performing convincingly throughout the contests. Many people are comparing this to the Deep Blue moment in chess, when Deep Blue defeated Garry Kasparov in 1997. Overall, LLMs have advanced tremendously over the last couple of years. I’m slowly becoming more of a code reviewer than a coder. Personally, I’m excited to see what developments come next. What do you think? Are we witnessing a similar turning point for programming?
