I often get this question from students and early-career professionals who want to climb the corporate ladder: “Should I get an MBA right after undergrad?” My advice? Don’t. Instead, work for 3–5 years first. Here’s why: 🎓 1. Experience helps you choose the right MBA. Once you’ve worked in the real world, you’ll have a much clearer idea of what skills you’re actually missing—and which program will help you close those gaps. 💼 2. You’ll understand your career better. After a few years, you’ll know whether you want to double down on your current path or make a strategic pivot into something new, like I did. 🤝 3. You’ll maximize the value of the network. An MBA isn’t just about coursework. The people you meet can open doors throughout your career. Having work experience allows you to contribute more meaningfully to those relationships—and get more out of them. 💰 4. You’ll likely be in a stronger financial position. You’ll have had time to pay down undergraduate loans, build savings, or even find an employer willing to help cover tuition. ⚖️ 5. You’ll know which format fits your life. By then, you’ll have a better sense of whether a full-time MBA, part-time program, or executive format makes the most sense for your goals. An MBA is a significant investment of both time and money. From my experience, getting real-world experience first makes that investment far more valuable—especially if your goal is to accelerate your career into leadership. Do you agree, or do you think it’s better to go straight from undergrad into an MBA? Also for those who have an MBA, what’s one piece of advice you’d give someone who’s considering an MBA? I’d love to hear different perspectives. #CareerAdvice #MBA #LeadershipDevelopment #YoungProfessionals #EarlyCareer #Mentorship #ProfessionalGrowth #CorporateCareer #HigherEducation #CareerPlanning #FutureLeaders #BusinessSchool #Networking #StudentSuccess #CareerMentor
