Recognising when to pause and not power through is one of the most important things you can do to build resilience when juggling work, studies and a personal life. This is one of the things our Youth Advisors told us at a resilience workshop we held. Here are three other top points they shared with us: 1/ Challenge imposter syndrome by shifting your internal dialogue. Instead of telling yourself ‘I am lucky to be employed’, say ‘employers are lucky to benefit from me and my skill sets’. Remember, you deserve to take up space in whatever room you choose to be in. 2/ Prioritise what is more urgent and what can wait when juggling uni, work, and everyday life. 3/ Get comfortable with discomfort. Our Advisors said that resilience grows when they push past their comfort zone. For example, doing public speaking or going to networking events, even when it feels awkward or tough at first. It's important to remember long term benefits outweigh the short-term discomfort. Remember, looking after your mental health is always important. We hope these tips can help you do that. Shout out to our youth participation team for holding this session. Also to Sanjana Daware for facilitating large parts of the session and bringing such thoughtful energy. And of course, to our incredible Youth Advisors.
