MADTimes is a leading Korea-based media platform dedicated to marketing, advertising, and digital innovation.

Music is one of the most powerful elements in advertising. Personally, I believe background music often has a greater impact than a simple commercial jingle. It defines the tone, shapes the emotion, and gives a film its lasting identity. The latest MAD Relay column features Jesper Gadeberg, one of Europe's leading music supervisors based in Copenhagen. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with some of the world's top directors, agencies, and brands, creating award-winning work across the global advertising industry. For his contribution, Jesper selected two commercials that have had a lasting influence on him: Jonathan Glazer's iconic Stella Artois film featuring the ice-skating priest, and Adidas' "Original Forever," directed by Leigh Powisand featuring Noel Gallagher & Oasis. He also shares his philosophy on music in advertising. At a time when many brands rely on the same familiar songs, Jesper believes music should be a creative choice that makes advertising more distinctive, memorable, and inspiring. I covered Jesper's column, the two commercials he selected, and his thoughts on music in advertising on MADTimes.
