I got into University of Cambridge! (as a founder panellist that is) 😂🥳 At the Cambridge Health Futures Conference Conference this weekend, I had the opportunity to sit on a founders panel discussing what it actually looks like to build in the health tech space as a medical student. We spoke equity, work-life balance, how content creation can help build an innovative community and more to a brilliant audience. The TLDR of the event; 1. The NHS is not “hard to navigate” by accident. It is complex because it is designed around safety, not speed. If you are building in this space, you are not just solving a clinical problem. 2. Clinical credibility is not optional. Leaving medicine doesn't need to be an inevitability. 3. AI is not the differentiator anymore. Everyone is building with AI. The real question is whether it integrates meaningfully into existing workflows, and becomes a product people would genuinely pay for and benefit from. 4. The best time to start was yesterday and the second best was today. Imposter syndrome eats up at everyone, but getting investors, doctors, boards of directors to believe in you, begins with self concept. 5. The best founders in HealthTech are obsessed with the problem, not the trend. This space does not reward hype for long. It was a pleasure to represent Orbion Connect with Tristan Derry and our wonderful marketing intern Tara Williams.
