This week, Yara’s President & CEO, Svein Tore Holsether took part in the Norway-India Business and Research Summit in Oslo alongside Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.   In the dialogue, Svein Tore highlighted the strong potential for cooperation between Norway and India in sustainable agriculture and low-emission industrial solutions, areas central to Yara’s mission.   As we mark 15 years in India, our Babrala plant in Uttar Pradesh stands as a milestone. It was the first foreign direct investment in India’s fertilizer sector and today supports local innovation, more sustainable production, improved soil health, and stronger farmer livelihoods.   Our solutions reduce the carbon footprint of fertilizers, improve nutrient use efficiency, and boost farmer incomes, all critical to achieving Viksit Bharat.   Yara is also the world’s leading producer of Diesel Exhaust Fluid, AdBlue. With production already in place at Babrala, we are well-positioned to scale domestic supply, reduce import dependency, and cut harmful emissions without impacting agricultural urea.   To accelerate India’s agricultural and industrial progress, continued public–private collaboration will be key. Two priority areas stand out:   ✅ Advancing ease of doing business through swifter regulatory processes, enabling farmers to benefit from timely access to advanced crop nutrition solutions while complementing existing subsidy frameworks, supporting productivity, sustainability, and long-term sector growth.   ✅ Strengthening enabling regulatory frameworks for domestic AdBlue production, aligned with the “Make in India” vision, helping build resilient local supply chains, support cleaner mobility, and drive industrial self-reliance.   “These steps, together with the new trade agreement, can unlock faster growth and stronger impact,” said Svein Tore.   Photo credit: Innovation Norway
