Was it Charles Dickens or Mark Twain who said Hillhouse Avenue is the most beautiful street in America? The source is debated, but the claim is the same. Six of the grand 19th-century mansions lining Hillhouse Avenue are now Yale buildings, each with its own history. One housed a future president. Another is the oldest structure on the street, built in 1826 for a descendant of New Haven's founder. Take a closer look at the buildings and the people behind them: bit.ly/4dSZVdx
