Legion Health just became the first mental health company to receive regulatory authorization to let AI prescribe psychiatric medications. They started by providing psychiatric care directly to patients and automating 95% of all admin work in their full-stack, AI-native clinic, allowing them to grow to 2,500 patients in the past year (~4X) without hiring a single additional admin FTE. YC's Garry Tan recently demoed their internal AI operating system, which unifies patient history, records, scheduling, prescriptions, messages, and insurance context into a single agentic workflow layer, allowing agents to access and act on all data in their clinic. Now, Legion is moving from automating admin work to automating the clinical work in health care as well, thereby collapsing the cost of care from humans to tokens and turning health care services into software.
