The New Orleans Carbohydrate Symposium series began under the direction of Dr. Margaret A. Clarke., former Managing Director of SPRI. The 14th meeting was the last meeting she held before her untimely death in June of 1998. Xavier Miranda worked the opening reception at her home in the French Quarter and made the program booklets for this meeting.
