For NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s Artemis II mission, Wyss Institute and Emulate, Inc. scientists sent Organ Chips, “avatars” made from astronaut cells, into deep space. These chips mimic human bone marrow and will help researchers understand how space travel affects the body, especially under radiation and microgravity. This research matters as the findings could lead to discoveries that could eventually protect astronaut health on future Moon and Mars missions; discover new treatments for diseases on Earth, such as new countermeasures for radiation exposure; and unlock personalized medicine in entirely new ways. Space exploration isn’t just about where we go - it’s about how we stay healthy for when we get there. https://lnkd.in/ecsdYprK
