Tariffs, geopolitics, anti-ESG regulation in the US – challenging times for companies, excellent times for Business Ethics and Sustainability classes. European Students can hardly ask for a better learning environment. Current developments provide a wealth of real-time case studies: ❓ Which companies quietly retreat from previously declared values? ❓Where are short-term export figures suddenly prioritised over commitments to the rule of law and responsible business conduct? These dynamics allow us to move far beyond textbook ethics. While for example the (former) members of the Net-Zero Banking Alliance provide insights into greenhushing, we see other industries that continue to publicly defend principles of justice even under pressure. Students not only of CBS University of Applied Sciences can analyse what corporate responsibility really means when times get tough.
