๐Ÿ”Œ๐ŸชซAn EV battery does not reach end-of-life when it leaves a vehicle.โ€‹ Most are retired at ~70โ€“80% capacity, leaving a substantial portion of usable energy. This creates a clear second stage in the battery lifecycle: between first use and eventual recycling.โ€‹ This middle phase, โ€œsecond life,โ€ is where batteries can shift into stationary storage, backup systems or smaller mobility applications. It is also where much of the remaining value can be captured and where most of it is currently lost.โ€‹ The structure and governance of this stage will determine whether that value is realized at scale.โ€‹ ๐Ÿ‘‰ Read more from WRI Polsky Center for the Global Energy Transition: https://lnkd.in/g-q3HyQJ
