Geopolitical tensions and supply-chain pressures are reshaping global commerce and services trade is emerging as a key source of economic resilience. While goods trade growth is slowing, digitally delivered services are expanding, supporting innovation, investment and cross-border business activity. However, a new generation of barriers has emerged. Differences in rules governing data, #AI, climate-related reporting and security can increase costs, create uncertainty and make it harder for firms to scale internationally. Greater interoperability, mutual recognition and international cooperation could be the solution by reducing fragmentation while advancing legitimate policy goals to unlock the potential of services trade.
