Hi, everyone – I recently discovered how to create an article on LinkedIn (I'm always learning new things! 😁) and I've just published my first one! About a month ago, I made a series of posts about the current state of Calgary's tech talent pipeline. They were by far my most popular posts ever (according to LinkedIn's analytics). I've rewritten them as a single, coherent article – which is what I believed they should've been in the first place. Calgary's tech talent market grew by over 60% from 2021 to 2024, but the pipeline feeding that growth is being being choked off. In about five years, it's going to be very difficult to find a senior developer. It doesn't have to come to this. In this article, I take a closer look at the situation and what all parties can do to fix the pipeline that sustains Calgary's tech & innovation sector.
