Last week, during the WOMEN IN TECH ® Global Summit in Cape Town, we stepped outside the convention centre — and into one of the most meaningful moments of the entire week. As part of the Summit's community outreach program, we visited Philippi Village — a creative and entrepreneurial hub in the heart of one of Cape Town's townships. There, Women in Tech South Africa Africa has built something extraordinary: a learning centre rooted in the community, designed to open doors for the next generation of women in technology. We ran a workshop with the girls from the township. And then we did something more. We invited them to the Global Summit. For many of them, walking into the CTICC — into a room of 500 leaders from 60 countries, of ministers and ambassadors and founders and technologists — was a once in a lifetime experience. And watching them take it in, wide-eyed and fearless, was one of the highlights of the entire summit for everyone in that room. Their curiosity, their energy, their questions — nothing about what they want to build or who they want to become was small. Everything was bold. It is one thing to talk about inclusion from a stage. It is another to sit in a room with young women who have every reason to doubt the system — and watch them refuse to. And then bring them into the room where it happens. This is what the WOMEN IN TECH ® Global movement looks like on the ground. Not just summits and keynotes. Real presence. Real connection. Real investment in the futures of girls who deserve every resource and opportunity we can bring. To the girls of Philippi — we see you. And we will be back. 🧡🌍 Ayumi Moore Aoki Erika Reeves Melissa Slaymaker Hwalani Mabaso Angela Naser Brigitte Villarroel Wafeeqa Wahid Appoline Delmas Martinez
