AI is already changing the way women navigate health. In a recent CHIEF article, Miya Gray Torain writes about using AI as a practical companion for midlife health. Not as a replacement for doctors, but as a tool for preparation, pattern recognition, and more informed conversations. Source: https://lnkd.in/eDHhHyZx For many women, especially in midlife, health questions often arrive in the margins of life: at 2 AM, between meetings, while caring for parents, children, teams, and everyone else. AI can offer something many women have not always had: immediate access to personalized, evidence-informed information. It can help women: ⚡ Organize family health history ⚡ Identify patterns across symptoms, sleep, movement, stress, and diet ⚡ Prepare better questions for doctors ⚡ Track chronic conditions more consistently ⚡ Turn scattered observations into something actionable That is powerful, but it is also imperfect. Many AI health tools are trained on medical data that has historically underrepresented women. As Miya notes, a 2025 study found that an AI model was less accurate at flagging serious heart conditions in women than in men. The lesson is to use AI with precision and skepticism. AI can help women prepare, learn, track, and advocate. However, it should not diagnose, make medication decisions, or replace medical care. The opportunity is enormous, but only if women’s health is treated as central to how these tools are built, tested, governed, and improved. At Women Shaping AI, we believe women need to understand both the promise and the limits of AI. When women are informed, confident, and connected, we are better equipped to ask sharper questions, advocate for better tools, and ensure AI works for women’s lives, not just around them. Women Shaping AI is a global community where women from all walks of life come together to learn about AI, build confidence and capability, and open doors for each other.
