As AI becomes more common at work, women are carrying more of the emotional weight of this transition. According to Gallup’s 2026 State of the Global Workplace report: 🔷 Women are slightly more engaged at work than men globally (21% vs. 19%) 🔷 But they are also more stressed (43% vs. 39%) 🔷 In North America, 55% of women report daily stress, compared with 45% of men Source: Women are showing up, contributing, and adapting. But too often, they are doing so while carrying a disproportionate burden of uncertainty, pressure, and emotional labor. At the same time, organizations are investing heavily in AI without fully supporting people through the transition. Only 12% of employees strongly agree that AI has transformed how work gets done. And fewer than one-third say their manager actively supports their team’s use of AI. Manager support is one of the strongest predictors of successful AI adoption. Employees whose managers actively support AI are nearly 100 times more likely to say AI is improving how they work. Organizations do not need more AI tools alone. They need: 🔷 Managers who can help teams navigate change 🔷 Space for people to build confidence and capability 🔷 Cultures that support experimentation without fear AI adoption will stall if people are overwhelmed, unsupported, or afraid of what comes next. This moment calls for leaders who can combine technological fluency with empathy, judgment, communication, and community. Leaders who know how to help people make sense of change, not just survive it. That is exactly the type of learning we endeavor to provide in our community. Women Shaping AI is a global community where women from all walks of life come together to learn about AI and open doors for each other. If that resonates, we’d love to have you join us: www.womenshapingai.com #womenshapingai #womeninai #futureofwork #gallup
