Industry leaders gathered at the BDO hosted and sponsored Round Table Discussion at the Saxon Hotel on 27 May 2026 for an engaging and thought-provoking discussion on: Building What Lasts: Women, Property and the Future We Are Creating. The event was led by Thuto Masasa, National Head of Advisory at BDO, with a welcome and positioning by Pranita Daya CA (SA), Research Analyst & Assistant Property Portfolio Manager at Truffle Asset Management and WPN National Chair. Deborah O'Connor, Climate Change & Sustainability Associate Director at BDO, led the discussion. The panel was facilitated by Nonhlanhla Mayisela, Managing Director of Ukukhula Real Estate Partners and past WPN Chair, with insightful contributions shared by panellists Angela Rivers, General Manager at the Johannesburg Property Owners & Managers Association; Vuyokazi Njongwe, Commercial Director at Billion Group; Vuso Majija, Executive Director & Head of Retail at Fortress Property Fund; Krishni Gounden from the Office of the City Manager at the City of Johannesburg; and Deborah O’Connor from BDO. The discussion highlighted the importance of collaboration between business, government and communities in addressing the challenges facing Johannesburg’s infrastructure and future development. A strong focus was placed on the role of partnerships, stakeholder engagement and creating solutions alongside communities - not for them. A key takeaway from the discussion is that informal communities already have valuable assets and opportunities, but meaningful progress needs support and collaboration from the private sector and broader industry stakeholders. Thank you to BDO, our speakers, panellists, and attendees for contributing to such an insightful and impactful conversation. #womenspropertynetwork #womeninproperty #leadership #builtenvironment #partnerships Lee-Anne Bac Farzana Rasool Lauren Borckenhagen Tyler Anthony Unathi Gama
