Recently, Dapto Town Centre was the focus of something a little different - a one-day Blitz bringing together multiple Council teams for a targeted clean, repair and refresh. Hot on its heels, Helensburgh received the same treatment and once again, the results highlight what’s possible when teams come together in a coordinated, focused effort. Across the two Blitzes, crews delivered a significant uplift 👇 Dapto results: ✨ 1,800m² of footpaths, retaining walls and sandstone blocks pressure washed 🌿 190m² of mulch laid and 60 plants installed 🪧 30 regulatory signs replaced and 5 bins renewed 🌳 14 trees and garden areas pruned and maintained 🛠️ 10 trip hazards repaired 🎨 28 sets of street furniture repainted 🧽 Graffiti removed and litter cleared across the precinct Helensburgh results: ✨ 775m² of footpaths, stairs and retaining walls pressure washed 🌿 550m² of mulch laid and 600 plants installed 🪧 20 signs repaired or replaced 🌳 14 gardens maintained, plus 2 dead trees removed 🧽 40 posters/stickers removed, along with widespread litter cleanup 👏 And plenty of positive feedback from the local community On top of this, Parks crews in Helensburgh completed additional landscaping works; installing decomposed granite paving, sandstone blocks and relocating planter boxes. The Blitz program complements existing maintenance schedules by concentrating work into a single day, delivering visible, immediate improvements that our communities can see and feel. Thank you to the local businesses and the community for their support during the day. We’re looking forward to hearing your feedback as the Blitz program rolls out across more town centres across Wollongong. Next stops: Corrimal and beyond.
