The transformation of 1 Victoria Street in London is turning a former 1960s office block into a modern, low-carbon workplace in the heart of Westminster. By reusing the original foundations, the project avoids new piling works and significantly reduces embodied carbon, supporting a more sustainable approach to urban redevelopment. This approach also created unusual tower crane conditions, with all cranes installed at basement level, directly on foundations more than 60 years old, requiring careful planning and specialist engineering solutions.
