A lot is happening at the intersection of AI and cybersecurity right now. While access to recently announced Claude Mythos is currently limited to responsible actors, the direction is clear: AI is accelerating how vulnerabilities are discovered, analyzed, and ultimately exploited. In this blog, we explore what this trend may mean for security teams over the next 12–18 months - and how to start preparing today. We expect three phases: → Short term: more CVEs as AI helps researchers identify weaknesses faster → Medium term: advanced capabilities become public and AI-assisted AppSec should becomes a core capability for defenders → Long term: resilience and secure design become even more critical as exploit timelines continue to shrink As always, the same technologies that can help attackers can also help defenders - often with an advantage, because defenders have context about their own environments. Organizations that begin incorporating AI into vulnerability discovery, prioritization, and remediation workflows today will be better positioned as these capabilities continue to evolve. This is exactly what we're building toward at Wiz: using AI to identify risks across cloud, code, and runtime; helping teams fix issues at the root cause; and enabling faster detection and response when exploitation occurs.
