WIPO Director General Daren Tang concluded a two-day visit to Côte d’Ivoire, reinforcing cooperation to support the country’s transition to an innovation-driven economy. In meetings with Vice President Tiemoko Koné Meyliet, Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé and senior ministers, Mr. Tang highlighted intellectual property (IP) as a driver of jobs, growth and opportunity – particularly for entrepreneurs, SMEs, creators and youth. Discussions focused on leveraging IP for competitiveness and unlocking value from cultural, agricultural and technological assets, in line with Côte d’Ivoire’s National Development Plan 2026-2030. As part of his visit, the Director General also opened the African Intellectual Property Organization (OAPI) Heads of IP Offices Conference.
