Congratulations to Zanichelli Editore (Italy) and ‌Fundação Dorina Nowill para Cegos (Brazil), winners of the 2026 Accessible Books Consortium International Excellence Awards 🏆 Both winners were recognized for their innovative use of AI in producing educational textbooks in accessible formats for students with print disabilities. Zanichelli editore S.p.A. won in the Publisher category for its long-standing commitment to accessible publishing, ensuring that educational materials are “born accessible” and available to learners from the outset. Fundação Dorina Nowill para Cegos won in the Initiative category for its “Dorina AI” platform, which uses artificial intelligence alongside human expertise to create image descriptions which increase both the speed and quality of accessible book production. The winners were announced during an award ceremony at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair on April 13, 2026. Since 2015, the ABC International Excellence Awards have celebrated leadership and achievements in accessible publishing worldwide.
