Global film production has hit a record high, new WIPO/ Omdia data shows 🎬 In 2024, feature film production reached 9,600+ titles – continuing its long-running upward trend. While production has fully surpassed pre-pandemic levels, box office revenues have followed a slower and bumpier path: at USD 32.8 billion in 2025, they remain 22% below the 2019 peak of USD 42.0 billion. The result is a split picture: the world is making more films than ever, but the theatrical market is recovering more slowly. India remains the largest producer, followed by Japan, China, the U.S., and Italy. Bhutan leads globally in films produced per capita (28.6 per million), ahead of Mauritius, Estonia, Latvia, and Iceland. Swipe through the cards for key findings.
