Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP advises HOERBIGER Holding AG on the acquisition of the PI (Physik Instrumente) Group from its shareholders. Founded in 1970 and headquartered in Karlsruhe, Germany, PI Group is globally renowned for its high‑precision motion and positioning solutions, including piezoelectric drives, linear actuators, rotary tables and multi‑axis systems. PI’s technologies are performance‑defining in industries such as semiconductor manufacturing, photonics, microscopy, metrology and medical devices. The company operates globally with nine production sites across Europe, North America and Asia, as well as 16 sales and service subsidiaries. PI Group’s global operations, comprising approximately 1,900 employees, will form the new “Positioning” division within the HOERBIGER portfolio. PI will remain a standalone operating unit, retaining its name, brand and global market presence. HOERBIGER Holding AG is a global technology group specializing in performance-enhancing components for industry. The company is owned by the HOERBIGER Foundation and pursues a strategy of profitable growth, with the acquisition of PI marking another milestone in the company's development. The distinction of this transaction was that no investment banks were mandated on either the buyer's or the seller's side. In-house, the transaction was handled and lead by the General Counsel of the HOERBIGER Group, Michael Stelzel, MSc, MA, CSE. In addition, Jan Hollenthoner and Michael Kullmann accompanied legal aspects of the transaction in-house.
