They think of their sailing plans as projects. Time on the planet is limited, so they research deeply, make a plan and execute. Above all else, this is an experiential generation of sailors. The purchases they make are a mechanism to achieve their sailing dreams. YouTube sailors SV Delos have introduced thousands to sailing for the first time, a surprising amount have made the move to buy their own boats. My latest feature for Yachting World takes a look at how Delos made an eco-friendly re-fit and documented it on YouTube. It was well researched, carefully planned and fundamentally changed their sailing experience. It's also an insight into this new market.
