Content Notice: Family Loss "Whole Foods Market has shown up for me in ways I'll never forget. In 2025, when I lost my mom, my team rallied around me with so much love and support. It reminded me that this is more than just a workplace — it's a community. My journey with Whole Foods Market started back in 2018 as a part-time Cashier — just a summer job before my senior year of college. But even then, something about the culture and the mission of nourishing people and the planet stayed with me. It ultimately led me back in 2022. I returned as a part-time Seafood Team Member, and over the past couple of years, I've grown into a full-time role as a Certified Fishmonger, Seafood Team Trainer and Green Mission Ambassador. I'm currently working toward becoming an Assistant Team Leader through the Career Development Associate Team Leader program and recently passed my Phase 1 exam. What really drives me every day is people. I love connecting, creating moments of hospitality and bringing light and laughter into spaces. Seafood is especially meaningful to me — I grew up fishing with my grandpa, so this work feels personal and close to home. My spouse, Miles, who is a butcher here at Whole Foods, is also a constant source of inspiration and support: Seeing his dedication every day pushes me to grow, and so much of my drive comes from wanting to make him proud. He's a huge part of the passion I bring into work. Becoming a Green Mission Ambassador felt like a natural step in my journey. I've always been connected to nature, and this role has allowed me to turn that passion into action. Using my background in design, I've been able to make sustainability more engaging and accessible — and hearing how much Team Members truly care during those moments reminds me that what we're doing really matters. Winning the 2025 All Star Award was something I never expected. I was honestly shocked, but incredibly grateful to be surrounded by so many people who share the same purpose. It's humbling, and it's reignited my passion even more. This recognition means so much to me and to my family — I carry them with me in everything I do. Outside of work, I love cozy, creative hobbies like crocheting and knitting, and I share my home with three adorable cats named after food — Honey, Kiwi and Pumpkin. I'm always finding little ways to bring creativity into everyday life, whether that's through design, projects or just making things feel a little more special. I'm proud to be part of something bigger, and I'm excited for what's ahead.” — Sam Martin, Seafood Team Trainer & Green Mission Ambassador #NourishPurpose #TeamWFM
