Speaker Announcement | WFO Offshore Wind 2025 on Sylt   We are delighted to welcome Joschka Knuth, State Secretary at the Ministry for Energy Transition, Climate Protection, Environment and Nature of the German federal state of Schleswig-Holstein, as a speaker at this year’s Economic Forum Offshore Wind.   Born in Kiel, Knuth began his career in public service – including roles as personal advisor to Robert Habeck, later as Deputy Head of Political Coordination at the State Chancellery, and as Press Spokesperson at the Ministry for Energy Transition. After moving into the private sector with EY, he was elected to the State Parliament of Schleswig-Holstein, before being appointed State Secretary. Today, he plays a key role in shaping the energy transition in Schleswig-Holstein – a federal state that is not only one of Europe’s leading wind regions but also a hub for the offshore wind industry.   Joschka Knuth on the importance of offshore wind: "Those who invest in offshore wind today are investing in energy, in climate protection, in competitiveness, and in social responsibility alike. Europe can only become climate-neutral and organize its energy supply independently if we expand offshore wind with the same determination once applied to coal and steel. Thanks to the steady winds off our coasts, offshore wind farms can make a decisive contribution to the success of the energy transition. Just as our coasts have long been the gateway to the world, they are now becoming the gateway to a climate-neutral future."   Schleswig-Holstein demonstrates what this means: ·     Climate-neutral by 2040 – offshore wind as the backbone of the state’s strategy. ·     2.1 GW offshore capacity – one of Europe’s leading locations, contributing strongly to Germany’s ~ 9.2 GW total. ·     European power hub – grid links like the West Coast Line and NordLink connect wind energy far beyond the state’s borders. ·     Jobs & innovation – thousands of jobs and a strong industrial/technological hub for the global offshore wind market.   In just a few days, we will gather on Sylt – one of Schleswig-Holstein’s northernmost islands, directly on the North Sea and overlooking offshore wind farms.
