Rebekah Jacques is bringing a more human-centred approach to forensic pathology. By integrating Indigenous values, knowledge and lived experience into her work, she's helping ensure the process not only uncovers truth, but also respects dignity and supports healing. “Many people talk about First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples as if we belong in museums, but we're alive and well today. The systems weren't designed for us to be in these spaces. We have to make space so we can truly improve the lives of our communities – that's not always easy work.” Through her work, Rebekah highlights : - Centring Indigenous values, voices and knowledge is essential for true reconciliation and systemic change. - When we know better, it’s our duty to do better. - Forensic pathology blends science and humanity to reveal truth and restore dignity.
