Celebrating Sustainability Leadership at Western 🌿 We’re proud to recognize three outstanding members of the Western University community whose leadership, research, and dedication are driving meaningful climate action on campus, across Canada and around the world. As EnviroUSC coordinator, Shely Kagan helped launch Coat Cycle, giving unused lab coats a second life and improving access to essential gear for students. She also leads clothing swap initiatives that have diverted more than 350 lbs of clothing from landfill while supporting local organizations. University Students' Council at Western University Nicole Redvers, a faculty member in the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry and a global leader in Indigenous planetary health, bridges knowledge systems to protect the Earth and the communities connected to it. Her work informs global conversations at the United Nations, World Health Organization and IPCC, ensuring essential perspectives help shape climate policy and action. Through the Faculty of Engineering at Western University, Shafquat Rana is advancing innovative clean‑energy research that integrates solar panels, heat pumps and thermal battery storage into one system - creating homes that can produce, store and manage their own energy. Her work has moved from modelling to full-scale testing in newly built homes, demonstrating that sustainable residential design is practical, livable and scalable across Canada. These leaders remind us that impactful change happens when creativity, research and community commitment come together. 🌎 #WesternU Read more about their accomplishments here: https://lnkd.in/e9J_fktp
