The biggest risk in AI-enabled supplier audits isn't the technology. It's the illusion of transparency. Imagine you're auditing two factories in China: - Both showcase AI-powered quality inspection. - Both demonstrate autonomous production lines. - Both provide impressive dashboards. - Both pass your supplier audit. Which one would you trust with a US$20 million sourcing program? The uncomfortable truth is that most procurement teams are still auditing AI factories with pre-AI audit methods. We're asking questions like: • Do they have AI? When we should be asking: • Who can override the AI? • Can we access raw quality-control data? • Are AI decisions traceable and auditable? • What happens when the AI recommends stopping production during peak season? Because AI doesn't eliminate supplier risk. It simply moves supplier risk from the production line into management decisions.
