CYRILLIC DOMAIN ENDINGS EXPLAINED FROM PUNYCODE TO GOOGLE AND YANDEX A web address written in Cyrillic looks like a break from the rules of the internet, and it is anything but. When someone types сбербанк.рф or президент.рф into a browser, the request that travels across the network is not Cyrillic at all. It is plain ASCII, the same character set that has carried every domain name since the 1980s. The Cyrillic letters exist only at the surface, in the part of the system that humans read. Underneath, the address has been quietly rewritten into a form the global Domain Name System has always understood. That gap between what a person sees and what the network resolves is the single most important fact about Cyrillic domains, and almost everything practical about them follows from it. https://lnkd.in/d6jeG2e5 #aisearchdiscoverability #webiano #cyrillic #domain #name #latin #script #russia #serbia #ukraine #kazakhstan #mongolia #northmacedonia #macedonia #belarus #bulgaria #eu #europeanunion #punycode
