WE Soda is partnering with Imperial College London on a PhD project tackling one of the biggest questions in sustainable energy storage systems - what are the most sustainable and scalable sodium-ion cathode materials for next-generation batteries? Led by Principal Investigator Magdalena Titirici, the project will leverage Imperial College London’s leading DIGIBAT autonomous battery laboratory, including automated synthesis, electrode preparation, and high-throughput electrochemical testing with real industrial insight from WE Soda on supply chains, sustainability metrics and scale-up considerations. This is hands-on, high-impact research at the intersection of academia and industry. It will also provide training in sodium-ion battery materials, electrochemistry, automated materials discovery, life-cycle assessment, techno-economic analysis and advanced characterisation.
