Meet Shah. Fifty years ago, his father opened Raj Dulal in South Shields - a name that came to stand for quality, warmth, and tradition, welcoming discerning diners from across the North East. Half a century on, the Shah family has returned to where it all began. More than a reopening, it's the continuation of a legacy rooted in family, flavour, and fierce passion. These memories and journeys are what make South Shields what it is today. And what a response we've had to this project. Our Bents Park pop-up was a massive success - drawing people from right across the community to explore the project, share their memories, and celebrate the town's stories together. Over 300 stories have now been collected across our Shields Museum exhibition, the pop-up, and our digital archive: more than three hundred memories, recipes, and slices of Shields life. Hopefully, this is just the beginning of an important collaboration. Our work in this town keeps growing. Stories From Shields, our Colman's documentary, our regeneration work with South Shields Market - all rooted in the same belief: that this community's untold stories deserve to be celebrated, and that they're the case for what this town can be again. To the business community who've opened their doors and shared their journeys with us - the families, the founders, the faces behind the names that have shaped this town - thank you. Your stories are the backbone of this project. This town has always had stories worth telling. It turns out you've all been waiting for someone to ask. The extended version of these stories are now live on our YouTube channel. https://lnkd.in/ed272jsi #StoriesFromShields #SouthShields #Delhi6 #LocalHeroes #Community #Regeneration South Tyneside Council Dan Prince Chris Jewitt Rosie Jenkinson Andy Whittaker
