Im Rapid Surfing ist in den letzten Jahren viel passiert. 1971 fixierte Arthur Pauli erstmals ein Surfbrett mithilfe eines Seils an einer Stromschnelle der Floßlände in Thalkirchen, München. Wenige Jahre später wurde die erste Welle am Eisbach gesurft. Heute spült es uns täglich Bilder und Geschichten von Fluss- und künstlichen Wellen aus aller Welt in den Feed. Was in den 1970ern einige Freaks für sich entdeckten, hat sich zu einem Sport entwickelt, der immer mehr Menschen begeistert. Ein aktuelles Beispiel ist die erste offizielle EM im Rapid Surfing, die dieses Jahr auf der Citywave Luzern (OANA), CH stattfindet. Doch Surfen ist mehr als nur Sport. Es schafft Raum für Selbstfindung, Begegnungen und Community. Wir finden, das verdient einen Ort, der all das widerspiegelt. Deshalb stellen wir als waveup unsere Plattform dafür zur Verfügung. Das Ergebnis: RAPID&BEYOND – ein eigenständiges Format über die Szene und Kultur des Rapid Surfings. Im Mittelpunkt steht ein Podcast mit spannenden Gästen aus allen Bereichen der Szene. Die Gespräche reichen von aktuellen Entwicklungen im Sport bis hin zu Lebenswelten und Geschichten, die eng mit ihm verbunden sind – und darüber hinaus. Besonders freuen wir uns, mit Toyota Switzerland , Protest Sportswear Sportswear und FUJIFILM Switzerland Partner an Bord zu haben, die bereits seit Jahren den Sport unterstützen und vorantreiben. . . . A lot has happened in rapid surfing over the past few years. In 1971, Arthur Pauli attached a surfboard to a rope and rode a rapid at the Floßlände in Thalkirchen, Munich. A few years later, the first wave at the Eisbach was surfed. Today, our feeds are filled with content from river waves and artificial waves around the world. What started with a handful of pioneers in the 1970s has grown into a sport that inspires more and more people. A great example is the first official European Rapid Surfing Championship, taking place this year at Citywave Lucerne (OANA), CH. But surfing is more than a sport. It creates space for self-discovery, meaningful encounters, and community. We believe that deserves a platform of its own. That’s why waveup is launching RAPID&BEYOND – an independent format dedicated to the culture and scene of rapid surfing. At its heart is a podcast featuring guests from all corners of the community. Conversations range from topics at the core of the sport to the stories, lifestyles, and perspectives that have grown alongside it – and far beyond. We’re especially excited to have Toyota Switzerland , Protest Sportswear Sportswear and FUJIFILM Switzerland on board.
