⚓ Have you spotted Beverley, the jack-up barge, putting in the hard yards off the Alkimos coast? It’s hard to miss her standing tall and proud offshore. Standing on 78‑metre legs, she’s the largest of her kind registered in Australia. And ‘Bev’ is doing her bit to support critical marine works to support WA’s future water supply. Bev is installing the ocean intake and outfall structures beneath the seabed. These will connect to underground pipelines currently being bored by tunnel boring machines, bringing seawater into the plant and safely returning brine back to the ocean. Equipped with a 400‑tonne crane, helideck and accommodation for more than 50 workers, Beverley doesn’t sleep – she operates around the clock to keep this $2.8 billion project on track. Once complete, Stage 1 of the Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant will deliver a whopping 50 billion litres of drinking water each year to more than 2.5 million Western Australians, while supporting 1,500 local jobs and injecting $1.1 billion into the WA economy 💧💪 Read more about it here 👉 bit.ly/3QpwUNi ACCIONA Don Punch Lorna Clarke MLA
