To help turn ambition into practical, safe and commercially viable operations, WΓ€rtsilΓ€ has increased the power rating of its WΓ€rtsilΓ€ 25 Ammonia engine. Why it matters: β Fewer cylinders required, reducing installation complexity and simplifying maintenance β Supports conversion between LNG and ammonia operation β 1.9β3.1 MW power range for main or auxiliary engine applications β Improved retrofitability, offering greater fuel flexibility for shipowners βWith decarbonisation front and centre of our strategy, we continue to enhance the capabilities of our ammonia engine solution. This power increase builds on our extensive testing and development work and helps make ammoniaβfuelled ship operations more practical and affordable, while maintaining high standards of safety and reliability,β says Stefan NysjΓΆ, Vice President of Power Supply, WΓ€rtsilΓ€ Marine. The increased power version is released to the commercial market for deliveries in 2028. Read more: https://lnkd.in/ekwVwGBY #MarineInnovation #EnergyTransition #Ammonia #Decarbonisation
