Remote Bookkeeper | E-Commerce Bookkeeper |Payment Reconciliation | QuickBooks & Excel Expert

Hi everyone, I wanted to share a quick breakdown of the Shopify Connector (QuickBooks) vs using an ecommerce integrator like A2X, based on my experience working with Shopify bookkeeping. Shopify Connector (QuickBooks) – Advantages • Free and easy to set up • Syncs daily summarized payouts into QuickBooks • Keeps books relatively clean and avoids too many transactions • Good for very small or simple stores Shopify Connector – Disadvantages • Only works with Shopify Payments • Does not properly handle multiple payment processors (Stripe, PayPal, etc.) • Records based on payouts instead of actual sales timing • Limited visibility into detailed breakdowns (fees, refunds, taxes) • Can distort profitability if not understood correctly A2X (or similar ecommerce integrators) – Advantages • More accurate ecommerce accounting structure • Separates sales, refunds, fees, and COGS properly • Works with multiple payment processors • Better for accrual-based accounting and financial reporting • Scales better as the business grows A2X – Disadvantages • Paid tool • Slightly more setup required • Requires understanding of proper bookkeeping structure Overall, the Shopify Connector can work for small/simple setups, but as ecommerce businesses grow, tools like A2X provide much clearer financial accuracy and reporting. Curious to hear how others are handling their Shopify bookkeeping setups.
